Planning Teaching and Learning: Examining Potential Benefits as Perceived by School Teachers
Abstract
Planning of teaching and learning is a fundamental aspect of effective teaching. This research, therefore, aims at examining potential benefits of planning teaching and learning activities as perceived by diverse group of school teachers. By using descriptive-cum-survey design, 397 teachers were selected as a sample from 43 schools of two districts, by employing multistage cluster technique. A self-designed questionnaire comprising 18-sattements was used as tool for collection of data on five-point scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive-cum -inferential statistics. This research found that overall teachers believe that planning of teaching and learning activities is highly helpful in delivery of content; in achieving students’ learning outcomes; managing and organizing students’ learning activities, resources; and for enhancing quality of teaching. It was further concluded that teachers don’t’ differ in their beliefs by their positions and all are of the same view that planning of teaching and learning activities is highly helpful in delivery of content; achieving students’ learning outcomes; managing and organizing students’ learning activities, resources; and for enhancing quality of teaching.
