Changing Characteristics of Legal Education in Pakistan: Prospects and Challenges
Abstract
This paper focuses on changing characteristics of legal education in Pakistan. After independence, several institutions were established in Pakistan for imparting legal education. is well established that the supremacy of rule of law and justice is pre-requisite for development in any state and it can be strengthened and ensured by the concerned belonging to legal arena, such as, Bar and Bench and academicians. The regulatory authorities for imparting legal education are Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Bar Council (PBC). In Pakistan, the recent Judgment of Supreme Court is significant for legal reforms as it proclaims serious measures for improvement in legal education. It concludes that still there is room for further improvement even after implementation of the Judgment in its true sense. It recommends that further legal reforms are needed for improvement in legal education. Finally, conclusions and Recommendations will be given.
